Happy New Year loves, I am really grateful for 2017. It had its struggles, times of joy and most of all times of clarity and for that I am grateful.

This is officially my first blog post of 2018, whoop whoop. Unlike most people, I haven’t had that much time to sit and reflect on 2017, set goals and re-invent a new me that would probably last the first week of January (lets be honest). To be honest, I don’t plan on going through all that hassle, the key is to make small achievable goals and not overwhelm yourself by totally trying to transform your personality and lifestyle. Throughout 2017 I made a mental note of activities and goals I would either like to do differently, start doing or stop altogether.

Here are my top 5 quick win goals.

1: Actually make time for myself

Time is really relative and it is easy to be seen as being selfish when you decide to take some for yourself. Last year I practically drowned myself in helping other people achieve their goals, solving their problems and literally being the “agony aunt” BUT when it came to my turn, they where nowhere to be seen. This year I have decided to enjoy the little things, make time for a spa day, a movie date with myself and generally looking after my mental well being.

2. Prayer and listening

I spent 2017 doubting pretty much every move I either made or intended to make. I pray a lot, constantly talking to God (HE always makes time to listen to me) but I realise that I never actually made time to listen to God’s answers. Prayer is key but listening is jut as important. I am going to spend this year listening and obeying Gods will, direction and plan.

3: Embrace the idea of maybe enlarging my circle of friends

I used to have loads of friends a while back but one after the other they started dropping off either due to betrayal, selfishness or separate paths. As a result, I kept my circle really really small and mostly kept myself to myself. Having a small circle of trust worth friends is great but sometimes having more people to turn to for expert advise, motivation or just to chat can help with improving mental well being.

“Do not be a recluse, socialise and be seen”

4: Procrastination

This is a big one for me, I actually wouldn’t fully class it as procrastinating. It is more like the situation is never right, I don’t have the tools, I am broke, I don’t have the support system, I don’t have the time blah blah. Literally me in my head making excuses, “Never put off what can be done today to tomorrow” this saying always plays on my mind when I start with my million excuses. This year is the year of seizing the moment, learning and producing in the moment. I made loads of excuses about my blogging and youtube channel (people don’t watch my content, no one clicks on my blogs, why do I even bother?) and those excuses made me stop creating content and ultimately made me forget why I decided to be a content creator. I enjoy blogging, trying out products, sharing knowledge, learning and producing content people engage with. Secretly I just want to soak myself in a glitter bath

5: Dream BIG

This is me summed up. Ever since I was a little girl I have always and still believe that my life has a bigger purpose. Surely I wasn’t placed on thi earth to strive to just pay bills, clock in and out of a 9-5 job? surely NO. I have a purpose in life, my dreams are 10x bigger than me and sometimes thats scary but you know what, it means I am dreaming the right kind of dreams. I will never let go of my dream to own, direct, influence things and those around me. ‘Dream big, start small and work your way up”

Let us not forget the main reason why you clicked on this post. I decided to kick the year off with a pretty easy makeup tutorial, predominantly focusing on achieving a glowing, healthy looking skin (must glow all year round). I used one eyeshadow palette (really affordable) to create this look, if you know me, you know I enjoy creating looks with one palette at a time, I am not the biggest fan of using multiple palettes at once. This look can be used for pretty much anything but I predominantly see myself reaching for it as my quick go to SLAY for 2018.

I used the Colourpop Cosmetics ‘You had me at hello” palette to achieve this look. As you can see, the packaging is absolutely girly and very cute. I am a huge fan of the small eyeshadow palettes that Colourpop are launching. They are portable to travel with, the shades are pigmented and you can create a lot of looks using them PLUS they are always on offer on the website.

The only down side for me is the customs charge it incurs as I live in the UK. Beautybay needs to hurry up and stock them.

The shadows are warm, great for women of colour plus there are a few shimmer shades that can easily be combined to create custom colours. “Never be afraid to layer your shimmer shadows”

Top tip when layering shadows: apply the base shade dry (you can use an eyeshadow base) then wet your brush for an intense top layer colour.

All the shades blend really well and are very pigmented. A little goes a long way.
